Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How does recruitment work?

A. Recruitment will have set dates with specific themes for each night. During these nights, we will just get to know you and share more about our sisterhood with you. This is a chance for you to meet sisters and get to know everyone on a more personable level.

Q. What does it look like to be a part of SAO?

A. SAO is different for each person. We hold events that vary by day, week, or month. We have so many opportunities throughout the semester to help you build a better sisterhood and get involved on campus. This includes sisterhood socials, FSL socials, bible studies, service projects, sisterhood retreats, formal/semi-formal, philanthropy events, and so much more! SAO is more than a sorority, but is a community of girls who love each other for who they are and walk beside you in your journey in faith!

Q. How has SAO helped build a better community?

A. I could seriously write on this question all day! SAO is what has helped me find my place and my people at Campbell. I joined as a freshman and did not know many people coming to campus. These sisters made the college transition so much easier! During recruitment week, I ran into some sisters I had only met the night before and they spoke to me and made me feel so loved. Fast forward a year later, my sisters are the first girls I call when I need someone to talk to or hang out with. I could walk into the union this past semester and almost everyday I would find a group of sisters to sit and talk or study with. These girls are my rock and have helped me through my lowest time and have supported me when I needed it. This community is so genuine and will always put Christ first in your friendships. I am so thankful for these sisters and how they have provided me with a deeply rooted community here at Campbell!

Q. What is the time commitment like?

A. The time commitment is very manageable. We have required chapter meetings each Sunday, and then semester or monthly credits that each sister must participate in. Our sisters are highly involved in other clubs, extracurriculars, and jobs, while still staying active within SAO. The time commitment is not overwhelming, and you can attend events as they fit into your schedule and still stay involved!

Q. I'm not you typical "sorority girl" do you think I will fit in?

A. Of course! Many of our sisters would say the same thing and most did before attending recruitment. We do not expect you to be a "typical sorority girl". Our sisters come from many different backgrounds, majors, and interests. We accept you as you are! SAO has been one of the best decisions I have made and I have never considered myself to be a "typical sorority girl"!

Q. What are some good tips for girls going into recruitment?

A. While it can be easy to be nervous coming into recruitment, don't be! Just be yourself and talk about what makes you happy! We just want to get to know you! You never know, you might find a sister that has the same interests as you or makes it easy to talk about things! Just be your authentic self and do not be afraid to be yourself!
